What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

One thing I love most about tutoring is seeing the moment when a student finally understands something they were struggling with. It's really rewarding to know that I helped make a difficult topic clearer or less scary for someone. I also enjoy building a connection with students and watching their confidence grow over time. Teaching others also helps me strengthen my own understanding, so it’s a learning process for both of us.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my strengths as a tutor are patience, clear communication, and being able to explain things in a simple way. I try to understand how each student learns best and adjust my style to suit them. I'm also good at breaking down complex topics into smaller steps so they’re easier to understand. Most importantly, I try to create a comfortable environment where students feel okay asking questions and making mistakes.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important things a tutor can do are to help the student build confidence, understand the subject better, and feel supported. A good tutor should create a safe space where the student isn’t afraid to ask questions or make mistakes. It’s also important to explain things in a way the student can relate to, and to encourage them to become more independent and motivated in their learning.

About Dev

Leadership Through Education and Community Involvement

Dev brings a wealth of leadership experience from guiding student teams in national competitions, including heading a project in the F1 in Schools program and leading an entrepreneurship team to win an innovation award. He has also taken the initiative to educate children in underprivileged areas, demonstrating his ability to communicate complex ideas in accessible ways. These roles have sharpened his organisational and mentoring skills, making him a confident and inspiring tutor for students of all backgrounds.

Practical Teaching Experience with Young Learners

As a swimming instructor, Dev worked directly with young children, helping them develop new skills in a supportive environment. This hands-on teaching experience allowed him to tailor his approach to each learner’s needs, ensuring that lessons were both enjoyable and effective. His experience with younger age groups translates well into tutoring, as he understands how to maintain engagement and build confidence in foundational subjects like Maths and English.

Innovative and Empathetic Approach

Dev’s involvement in digital literacy programs for blind students and community-driven projects—such as organising educational street plays—reflects his commitment to creative, inclusive learning. He is adept at finding unique ways to make academic content relevant and interesting for students, drawing from real-world examples and personal experiences.
