What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐Ÿ˜

I've yet to gain formal experience tutoring but I look forward to the moments where I can help students grasp a new concepts and feel good about their progress.

My Strengths as Tutor ๐Ÿ’ช

My main strength as a tutor is that genuinely enjoy mathematics. It was my favourite subject during VCE as well as university, which is reflected in the high distinction grades I achieved across all my engineering mathematics units. This passion allows me to explain concepts clearly, explore different ways of approaching a problem, and help students see mathematics as something understandable rather than intimidating.

Most important things I can do for a student ๐Ÿ…

Ensuring students develop a holistic understanding of the problem solving process, not just memorising solutions. Throughout university, multiple times I've seen friends blindly copy down solutions without understanding how they got there and then struggle with similar problems in tests/exams.

About Kelsey

About me

Kelsey is a 5th-year Pharmaceutical Science and Chemical Engineering student at Monash University. His passion for mathematics continued from high school into university, where he consistently achieved high-distinction grades across all his mathematics-based units

Analytical Thinker Who Breaks Problems into Simple Steps

Through his major engineering project on biodegradable packaging, Kelsey has spent many hours designing experiments, analysing data and refining methods when things didnโ€™t work the first time. He brings this same logical, patient approach to tutoring, teaching students how to break big problems into smaller, manageable steps. He encourages students to โ€œthink like problem-solversโ€, helping them check their own working and understand why an answer is right, not just what the answer is.

Relatable Role Model for Curious Students

As a current university student, Kelsey understands the school system and what students need to succeed in maths-heavy subjects. He is used to working in small teams on projects, so he knows how to listen, ask good questions, and adjust explanations to suit different learning styles. He enjoys connecting what students learn in class to real-world examples from science and engineering, which can be especially motivating for students who like hands-on or practical learning.
