What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing a student go from feeling confused or discouraged to actually understanding and feeling confident in the material. I find it really rewarding to break concepts down in a way that finally clicks for someone, especially when they realise they’re more capable than they thought. I also enjoy building a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without judgment.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

One of my biggest strengths as a tutor is my ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt my teaching style to each student. I’m patient, attentive, and good at identifying where a student is getting stuck rather than just repeating the same explanation. I also communicate well and make sessions engaging, which helps students stay motivated and focused rather than overwhelmed.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important things a tutor can do are to build a student’s confidence, create a safe space for learning, and help them develop independent problem-solving skills. A good tutor doesn’t just give answers, but guides students to understand how and why things work so they can apply that knowledge on their own. Supporting students emotionally and academically is just as important as teaching the content itself.

About Samiha

Experienced Maths & English Tutor Across Primary and High School

Samiha is an experienced tutor who has worked with students from preschool through to senior high school, covering maths, English, OC and selective school preparation. She has taught both one-on-one and in small groups, as well as managing classes of up to 15 students. This tutor regularly assesses progress, adjusts lesson plans, and keeps clear records so parents can see exactly how their child is tracking. Her background in computer science and mechatronic engineering supports a logical, step-by-step approach that helps students truly understand concepts, not just memorise them.

Engaging, Tech-Savvy Lessons that Keep Students Involved

Samiha designs interactive lessons using digital presentations, online quizzes, educational games and hands-on activities to keep students focused and motivated. She has led group tutoring sessions for students struggling in similar areas, creating a supportive environment where they can ask questions without feeling judged. For English, she adapts lessons to different prescribed texts and student skill levels, while in maths she builds strong foundations through structured practice and problem-solving. Her ability to use technology confidently makes online sessions smooth, efficient and engaging.

Strong Communication with Parents and a Youth-Focused Approach

This tutor communicates regularly with parents and guardians, providing clear updates on progress and practical suggestions for home support. Beyond tutoring, she has helped run youth activities and online communities, giving her insight into the social and emotional challenges young people face. She uses this experience to build rapport quickly, especially with anxious or post-lockdown learners. By combining strong organisation, time management and genuine care for young people, Samiha creates a calm, encouraging space where students can rebuild confidence and aim higher.
