Chemistry can seem abstract, learning about elements and matter, how equilibrium occurs and how chemical systems react. No wonder students get discouraged.
All it takes for a student to go from a mild distaste for chemistry to understanding what is scribbled in the textbook is someone to point out what to avoid and where to put in that extra hour of revision. It's like with any problem situation in schooling and even in their personal life, students need to know about using effective strategies. Then all you need is persistence, staying on task until you reach your goal.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Strategies that I have been implementing in the lessons with Sebastien are pen to paper and transfer skills. After each new concept has been taught, we do various examples/problems until he is confident and certain that he understand every step and method of thinking to every questions.
Kieran's attitude to learning is extremely positive. Kieran puts in a lot of effort to his studies and he understands what is required of him, especially as he enters V.C.E. Kieran has excellent work habits and does lots of practice problems.
None. The biggest problem is his inconsistency as sometimes he understands the questions very quickly, but then a few minutes later he forgets the answer and doesn't understand how to do the same question.
We had one lesson with Taruka, she is lovely and Isabella enjoyed it. With school holiday and long weekend we haven't managed another but will definitely be starting up next week again.
Both of the tutors that you have sent have been fantastic - very knowledgeable, great with Ollie, could not be happier
I am very pleased with Gabrielle and so is Thomas, so a great start. Just having a mentor has boasted Thomas's confidence enormously and I listen to how Gabrielle communicates with Thomas and I am amazed. Thomas is very happy.
