No wonder most students get overwhelmed and start memorising instead of understanding the concepts. Or worse, they just give up.
We've heard it time and time again, you’ve probably heard it too. Some students connect everything as they go, but some are just stuck. This kind of attitude can lead to poor grades, but it can also lead to a crack in your child's self-esteem.
So what can you do?
The truth is - everyone struggles. Some might get there easier or quicker, but everyone struggles at some point. We know that and the Carnes Hill chemistry tutors we work with know that, too.
All it takes is a bit of guidance by someone who's been there before. Someone who can foster the right attitude and study habits, but most importantly, someone who clicks with your child - a tutor who truly cares about your child's needs and goals.
That's what we do.
We find tutors and organise one-on-one chemistry tutoring in Carnes Hill, at your home or any other place that works for you.
There are no extra fees, just a simple hourly rate. You don't like the tutor? No need to worry, the first lesson comes as a free trial and we find you a better match. Simple as that.

The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Lydia is very good at writing down what she is thinking, although she needs to make sure she includes an equals sign and symbol for what an equation is equal to, all the time! I can see that she is making a huge improvement and her confidence is growing, which is fantastic! Her rule use is fantastic, and we will continue to work on the logical thinking behind rules.
She has a quiet and reserved attitude. This is good when working on her own but can make it difficult to inquire as to if she understands what myself or her teacher is showing her. Works hard and completes homework. No complaints. Poor book layout, and difficulty structuring problems to their full potential. Will work.
No gaps since we have started from the basics and there wasn't too much prior information to catch up on Mainly been covering the important basics with +,-,x,/ and he seems to understand it all well. Weakest area is probably 3D shapes as we only have spent a small amount of time on it so far and some shapes such as triangular prism is not often seen in everyday life so they can be a bit harder to imagine
Gary is doing a great job and Emilee is really appreciative of their time together.
Carl has enjoyed working with both his tutors this year and is well prepared for his VCE math methods exams. Having a personal tutor, even for a student like Carl who is already achieving excellent academic results, has helped relieve some of the stress of VCE and enabled him to sort out areas he wanted to work on with more depth.
Bailey is really happy with Jackie, and so are we, he enjoys their sessions and I can see he is understanding much better. Jackie is very courteous and punctual.
