What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy seeing students feel proud of their acdemic improvements and achievements, and learning that they handwork in studying is paying off. I take pride in being able to be a tutor who is a part of their journey to this road.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

My key strengths as a tutor is my ability to adapt to diverse learning styles. Since every student learns in a unique way, I make it a priority to adjust my approach to best support how they learn. Another one of my key strengths is being optimistic and encouraging the student. During my experience at Kumon one of the key thing was to encourage the students that they know what they are doing as quite a few students are stump on questions they know how to do, but is unsure whether they are doing it correctly.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

I consider being flexible to the way a student learn is important and being able to change accordingly, as every student learns differently and if we teach them all the same way, some may not understand, when we want all to understand. Instead what should be done is an adjustment to how the content it being taught to suit the students' need.

About Winnie

Engaging Maths Support from a HighAchieving Student

Winnie is a first-year university student studying a combined Engineering and Arts degree, bringing strong maths skills and clear communication to her tutoring. She has received a school commitment award for maths and a scholarship for academic excellence, showing consistent effort and high performance across subjects. As a recent secondary student, she understands current curricula and the challenges students face, especially in maths, and can explain concepts in a relatable, step-by-step way that makes tricky topics feel manageable.

Hands-On Tutoring Experience with Primary and Secondary Learners

Through her current role as a learning assistant at a private tutoring centre, this tutor regularly monitors students’ progress, checks their understanding, and adjusts the difficulty of tasks to keep them challenged but not overwhelmed. She has experience supporting a wide range of ages, from early primary through to high school, particularly in numeracy and foundational English skills. Parents can expect regular, clear feedback on how their child is tracking and what specific skills they are building each week.

Patient, Bilingual Communicator Who Builds Confidence

Winnie brings strong interpersonal skills and a calm, encouraging presence to every session. She is bilingual in Cantonese and English, which can be especially helpful for students from multilingual families or those who benefit from explanations in both languages. She focuses on building confidence by celebrating small wins, using practice strategies she developed while balancing her own study load, and teaching students how to organise their work and manage time effectively for homework and exams.
