What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is working closely with students and seeing them grow in both confidence and understanding. I enjoy getting to know each child, understanding how they learn, and adjusting my explanations to suit their needs. Helping students feel supported and encouraged, especially when they find maths challenging, and seeing their confidence improve is the most rewarding part of tutoring for me.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths as a tutor are patience, attentiveness, and clear communication. I take time to understand each student’s learning style and tailor my approach to suit them. With experience tutoring Maths for primary students and up to Year 8, I explain concepts in simple, child-friendly ways and provide steady encouragement. I create a calm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe a tutor should help students feel understood, supported, and confident in their abilities. This means paying close attention to their learning needs, explaining concepts clearly, and encouraging effort and progress. When students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes, they develop confidence, independence, and a more positive attitude toward learning.

Yanxi is focused and grasped the concepts quickly. She successfully solved simultaneous equations using the two methods taught, and applied these new algebraic mechanics directly to problem-solving questions.
She needs to watch for careless errors with positive and negative signs during multi-step algebraic manipulation. We will work on building her confidence when setting up equations from worded problems and applying newly learned concepts.

Consequently, she exhibited noticeably greater confidence while reading aloud. She is also applying this sound blending technique to accurately spell words during our exercises
To further enhance her reading fluency, we will continue to work on her faster automatic recognition of high-frequency sight words such as what, who, how etc

Aranjay showed a solid foundation in multiplication. He knows his times tables well and can competently solve multi-digit multiplication questions that require regrouping. He also handles 2-step word problems independently, demonstrating good reading comprehension and problem-solving logic.
He is currently struggling with long division. While he understands the concept of basic dividing, he lacks fluency with the standard long division process. He found it difficult to grasp and remember the steps involved (dividing, multiplying, subtracting, and bringing down). We will need to focus heavily on breaking down this specific process in our next lessons.
