What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I really enjoy breaking down complicated concepts to easier bite sized pieces for students to have a full grip of understanding them. I enjoy watching as my students improve while also not having a very stressful journey.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

My strengths are being patient with students and explaining concepts clearly to students and making sure they fully understand while being engaged with the lessons.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

I believe that it is very important for tutors to maintain a respectful relationship with their students and make sure they understand lessons and feel comfortable throughout the lessons. They should feel like they always get something out of the lessons. Tutors should always be patient and tailor their teaching styles to the needs of students.

About Catherine

High-achieving STEM student with strong Maths and Science credentials

Catherine is a high-performing STEM student who has excelled in advanced Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, consistently achieving top results across her subjects. She has competed internationally in events such as the Singa Math Challenge and a Biology Academic Marathon, placing highly against large student cohorts. Her experience researching water purification technology and participating in a National Science Olympiad means she brings real scientific thinking into her tutoring, helping students see how classroom concepts connect to real-world problems.

Hands-on teaching experience with younger students

This tutor has direct classroom experience through a structured student teacher program, where she assisted in delivering Mathematics, Science and Humanities lessons to Year 7 and 8 students. She is used to breaking down complex ideas into clear, step-by-step explanations and checking understanding through questions and examples. Catherine’s involvement in a youth organisation teaching English to children facing serious illness shows her patience and empathy, qualities that help nervous or struggling learners feel safe to ask questions.

Engaging role model with wide interests and strong communication

Catherine brings energy and personality to her sessions, drawing on her leadership in student council events and her role in producing a school podcast that invited guest speakers on topics like mental health and future careers. As a founder of an animal welfare initiative and a lead player in a Chinese orchestra, she connects well with students who have varied interests, from music to science to animals. She uses these experiences to make lessons relatable, build confidence, and encourage students to set and reach their own academic goals.
