What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The thing I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing the progression in their skills. For example, if a student really struggles with the concept of something, being able to work with them closely to help develop their understanding and then when they eventually get it. I love seeing the progression and making them feel empowered.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I have very clear communication skills, adaptability, patience, problem solving, encouragement and motivation skills. I also have great organisation skills and empathy for the students.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can provide a student is encouragement and motivation. Even if they are taking a little bit longer to learn a specific subject it is important for them to see that you as the tutor believe they can do it and ensures them that you understand they are always trying their best and will get there in the end with more practice. Making the student feel empowered and confident in themselves so their skills can develop continuously. I also believe trust and honesty are important.

About Lauren

Maths Support with Real Classroom Experience

Lauren brings hands-on maths teaching experience from working as a graduate tutor with secondary students, focusing on helping learners aged 12–16 build confidence and improve their exam results. She is used to planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual needs, especially for students who find maths challenging or come from under-resourced backgrounds. This tutor understands how to break concepts into clear, manageable steps and uses lots of practice and encouragement so students feel capable rather than overwhelmed.

Specialist in Educational Support and Learning Needs

Currently working in an educational support role at a primary school, Lauren supports students with extra learning and wellbeing needs across Maths and English. She is trained in Multilit programs (MacqLit and MiniLit), giving her practical tools for improving reading, spelling and foundational literacy. Lauren is also safeguarding and first-aid trained, and has a Working with Children check. She is skilled at building trust, noticing when a child is struggling, and adapting on the spot so each session fits how that student is feeling that day.

Youth Work, Confidence Building and Engaging Lessons

With a degree in Youth Work and Community Development that includes teaching and learning training, Lauren understands how young people think, what motivates them, and how to keep them engaged. She has led youth sessions overseas, planning activities around students’ goals and dreams, and challenging the barriers they face. Alongside this, over a decade of performing arts training means she brings energy, creativity and confidence-building strategies into her tutoring, helping shy or anxious learners find their voice and enjoy their progress.
