What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I like being able to work with students trying to fill in gaps of knowledge. Seeing the visible 'aha' moment gives me enjoyment knowing that they got a takeaway from our session together. Over time, seeing how far a student has progressed in their academic journey compared to when I first see them is very fulfilling. And being able to allow equal education for people is one of the core values I hold.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe I am good at guiding students to get an answer without doing the question without their input. From my experience, I think students learn best when they are prompted to think what comes next in their logic as it engages their critical thinking skills. And whether they are right or wrong, at least they have a takeaway message from that session. So my strength as a tutor is helping students build their own schema when approaching questions or concepts rather than dumping seemingly incoherent information. Another strength is being able to identify new ways to explain the same concepts.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe a tutor should always be willing to assist students when they need help with questions, but in particular encourage students to think critically about a topic. For example, giving questions such as: "What happens overall if I change one condition" and to let them build problem solving skills to figure out the corresponding effect. Being able to guide and nurture the student to think critically about a problem is the most important thing a tutor can do for a student.
