I believe a chemistry tutor should always be willing to assist students when they need help with questions, but in particular encourage students to think critically about a topic. For example, giving questions such as: "What happens overall if I change one condition" and to let them build problem solving skills to figure out the corresponding…

The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is facilitate and inspire the student's learning. By making learning a good experience for the student I hope to inspire them to drive their own learning and pursue their education. I think as a tutor my strengths would be patience and practical teaching. I am able to explain content…

I believe having a chemistry tutor who presents work in a manageable and stepwise manner is key. many students are embarrassed to admit when they don't understand concepts they may think are simple, or are intimidated by the seeming difficulty of some of the work. Presenting the problems as manageable and breaking them down helps the student gain…

It is highly important for a chemistry tutor to be able to listen to where a student is struggling and use this information to be able to adapt their teachings to each student personally. It is also important for a tutor to teach good study habits to students so that they may further their studies independently. I am a highly patient person which…

I should be able to make learning fun for the student and make the student feel more confident while dealing with the subject. The student might slowly develop liking for the subject if they find it easy and interesting. The most important task that should be done is that the concept is clear for the student such that they don't ever feel the…

I think the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to make learning simple by building from a very strong foundation. The reason many students struggle with complex concepts is because their foundation is either weak or vague. My approach has always been to start with the basics, explain them in simple terms, and then…

I believe in the importance of developing a student's own independent thinking skills, so that they gather the confidence to correctly respond to any problem that an exam or test may pose individually as I, the tutor, will not be there to help in assessments. By doing this, the student can cement beneficial study habits and obtain their academic…

The most important thing a chemistry tutor can do for a student is not to assess them purely based on their ability to memorize and reciprocate information, or to try to teach them in the same way as every other student, but to adjust and be understanding that every student has a different learning capacity, and adapt to each student to ensure…

In my opinion, the most critical responsibility of a chemistry tutor is not during the teaching phase, but in the phase that comes after the lesson. After learning the theory, the student will begin practising problems related to the topic and it is during this period, that most of the learning takes place. Hence, it is important for tutors to be…

Local Reviews

Ezymath tutoring provided us with a very capable math tutor, Brianna. The company has been very easy to deal with and I would certainly recommend them. They matched my daughter with the exact tutor that my daughter hoped for Already the tutoring has shown dividends with my daughter doing well in her year 8 math exam after only 2 teaching sessions.
Garry, Glen Iris

Inside Glen IrisTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Jack worked on graphing linear equations from two points and reviewed Pythagoras' Theorem alongside basic trigonometric ratios.

In Year 10, Mac tackled practice problems on the unit circle and prepared for a trigonometry exam by focusing on specific questions he found challenging.

For Year 5, Caleb revised long multiplication and division, as well as Roman numerals, using step-by-step examples to build confidence with these foundational maths skills.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student repeatedly avoided completing assigned online school tasks and skipped text examples, meaning core practice was missed ("Jack needs to attempt more of the questions from the text").

In Year 11 mathematics, forgetting to bring key notes and relying heavily on calculator shortcuts led to confusion during trig function drills.

A Year 6 learner struggled to focus during grammar work, often leaving punctuation exercises unfinished unless prompted.

Meanwhile, in a Year 3 session, handwriting became rushed and messy whenever worded maths problems appeared—making it difficult for both tutor and student to track working or spot errors.

Recent Achievements

A Glen Iris tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 10 student who used to avoid tricky trigonometry questions—last week, he completed several problems independently that he'd previously skipped, showing real progress in problem-solving.

In Year 8 English, another student began planning paragraphs on her own and now consistently uses correct punctuation and grammar after weeks of reminders.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 learner who struggled with "troublesome words" like their/they're/there can now spot and use them correctly in sentences without prompting.

Yesterday, the high schooler handed in all his maths homework with only self-checked corrections.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ashburton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Korowa Anglican Girls' School.
