What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The best part for me is when a student who's been quietly struggling finally feels comfortable enough to ask questions. A lot of students come in having been told a topic is easy or feeling embarrassed about not keeping up, and just creating a space where they feel like no question is too basic makes a huge difference. Watching that shift in confidence is what I find most rewarding.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my biggest strength is that I'm really good at finding the exact gap that's causing a student to struggle rather than just reworking everything from scratch. Most of the time there's one specific thing they've missed and everything else falls apart because of it. I'm also good at making students feel at ease, which sounds simple but I think it's underrated. A student who feels comfortable asking questions learns so much faster than one who's too afraid to speak up. And coming from a selective school and achieving a strong ATAR myself, I can give realistic advice based on experience.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

First and foremost, make them feel safe to not know things. A lot of students shut down because they're embarrassed about gaps in their knowledge, and if you can't fix that environment first, nothing else really works. Beyond that, I think the most important thing is teaching students how to think through a problem rather than just showing them the answer. The goal is for them to not need you eventually. And I think being honest with them matters too, not brutal, but real. Students can tell when you're sugarcoating where they're at, and they respond much better to someone who's in their corner
