What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the impact it has on a student’s confidence. Through SAS, I worked with a younger student who struggled with maths and often doubted themselves before even trying. By breaking problems down and supporting them step-by-step, I saw a real shift in their mindset.
One moment that stood out was when they solved a question independently after initially saying, “I can’t do this.†Seeing that change was incredibly rewarding.
It made me realise that tutoring is not just about teaching content, but about helping students believe in themselves.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think one of my main strengths as a tutor is my ability to explain concepts in a clear and adaptable way. I recognise that every student learns differently, so I try to adjust my approach-whether that’s breaking problems down step-by-step or using simpler analogies.
Another strength is patience. I make sure students feel comfortable asking questions and never rushed, which helps build their confidence over time.
Finally, through leadership, I’ve developed strong communication and mentorship skills. I focus not just on improving academic performance, but on creating a supportive environment.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Through my experience volunteering as a tutor in high school and also private tutoring, I’ve learnt that one of the most important things a tutor can do is build a genuine emotional connection with their students.
I focus on creating a safe, supportive space where students feel comfortable opening up not just about the content, but also about how they’re feeling. I see every student as a friend, and that trust helps them ask questions more freely and learn with less fear of judgement.
When that connection is there, students become more engaged and confident, and their learning improves.
