What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Honestly, the best part is when you see it click. That moment where a student goes from "I don't get it" to "oh wait, that actually makes sense." Especially with something like maths, where so many kids have already decided they're bad at it before you even start. Once you find the right way to explain something, you can literally watch their confidence shift. I also really like creating a space where they're not afraid to say "I don't understand," because that's when the actual learning starts.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I'd say I'm good at reading how a student learns and adjusting on the fly. If one explanation isn't landing, I'll come at it from a completely different angle until it clicks. I'm also pretty patient and easy to talk to, which I think makes a big difference. Students are way more likely to ask questions when they're not stressed about looking silly. And I put a lot of focus on confidence, not just the content itself. I've seen firsthand how much a student's mindset can hold them back or push them forward.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
For me, it comes down to helping them not need you anymore. Like, yeah, we're working through homework and exam prep, but the real goal is teaching them how to think through problems on their own. I also think it's massive to just meet them where they're at. Not rushing ahead, not making them feel behind. If you can build up their confidence and give them the right tools, eventually they start figuring things out without you, and that's the whole point really.
