What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The thing that I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students move past the initial fear and frustration of being stuck and not knowing where to start. At first, they may be stuck with a question, but as we work through the questions step by step, they start to understand and enjoy solving it. Seeing the student's transition from "I can't do this" to "wait, I think I get it" is the most fulfilling part because this is when learning becomes enjoyable for them.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I bring a strong academics background having achieved High Distinction and made the Dean's List at the University of Sydney, so I understand what it takes to achieve outstanding marks. Through tutoring my juniors I have planned lessons, explained concepts, and adapted when students didn’t get it. Outside the classroom, I have worked with refugee children, which taught me patience and how to build trust, because if students aren’t comfortable, they won’t learn. Furthermore, my exchange at LSE gave me a broader global perspective on different teaching styles.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

The most important thing for me is when a student clicks. A good tutor doesn't just give them the answers but helps them understand why and how something works, so they are not stuck the next time they see a similar question. A good tutor is someone who helps the students build confidence by supporting them every step of the way. I think a good tutor is also someone who is adaptable and can adapt different explanations to the needs of different students.
