What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy seeing students go from feeling confused or anxious about maths to actually understanding the concepts and feeling confident. I like breaking problems down into simple, logical steps and watching the “lightbulb moment†when it finally clicks. It’s rewarding to build a relationship with a student over time, see their marks improve, and know that I’ve helped change the way they think about the subject and their own abilities.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My main strengths as a tutor are my communication skills and my patience. I’m able to explain the same idea in different ways until it makes sense for the student, and I stay calm and positive even when they are struggling. I’m also very strong in maths myself, which helps me quickly identify where a student’s gaps are and design clear, stepbystep explanations and practice questions. Finally, I’m organised and reliable, so I prepare before each session and make sure there’s a clear plan for what we’ll cover and how we’ll track progress.

I think the most important things a tutor can do are: build the student’s confidence, make the content feel manageable, and create a structured plan for improvement. That means listening carefully to where the student is stuck, explaining concepts in simple language, and giving them targeted practice so they can experience small wins. It also means encouraging good study habits, showing them how to set out their working logically, and keeping regular communication with the family about progress. Overall, a tutor should not just help with homework, but help the student become more independent a
