What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy about assisting students in their maths is helping them understand something they initially find difficult and seeing their confidence grow. I particularly enjoyed finding ways to explain problems in simpler ways and seeing students become more comfortable attempting questions on their own. I find it especially rewarding to help someone realise that they are capable of doing something they may have originally thought was too hard.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe my strengths would be patience, communication, and the ability to explain problems in a different way. When I supported these younger students in high-school, I learnt that not everyone understands a concept in the same way. I willingly take the time to listen, understand where a student struggled, and then explained the problem in an easier way. I am also encouraging and approachable, which I believe is the number one thing that helps students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while they learn.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing a tutor can do is build a student's understanding and confidence rather than simply give them the answer. A tutor should know how to: be patient, listen to student needs, explain concepts in a way that works for them. From my experience, I learned also that encouragement can make a really big difference. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, learn from mistakes, and slowly become more confident and independent in solving problems.
