What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing a student become more confident in something they previously found difficult. With maths especially, it can be really rewarding to help a student understand a concept that did not make sense to them at first. I also enjoy getting to know how different students learn, because everyone responds to explanations in a different way. Being able to adapt my approach and see that lead to real progress is what makes tutoring enjoyable for me.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my main strengths are patience, communication and being able to explain concepts in a clear and simple way. From my tutoring experience, I have learnt that students often need ideas explained in more than one way before they fully understand them, so I am happy to slow down, try a different approach and work at their pace. I am also encouraging and approachable, which I think helps students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without feeling embarrassed.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think one of the most important things a tutor can do is build a student’s confidence as well as their academic ability. A good tutor should identify where a student is struggling, explain concepts in a way that suits them and give them the chance to practise until they feel comfortable doing it independently. It is also important to create a supportive environment where students feel able to ask questions. Ultimately, I think tutoring should help students become more confident, independent learners rather than simply giving them the answers.
