What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most is the moment a concept finally clicks for a student, especially with someone who's been struggling for a while. Maths can feel really discouraging when you're stuck, so there's a particular satisfaction in breaking a topic down, watching a student go from confused to confident, and then seeing that reflected in their results. Helping students achieve or exceed their target grade has been genuinely rewarding, not just because of the grade itself, but because of what it does for their confidence.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My biggest strength is patience combined with adaptability. I take the time to figure out how each student learns best rather than repeating the same explanation until it sticks. Nine years of tutoring, both online and in person, has taught me how to break down a concept from multiple angles until it clicks. That approach has a track record: every student I've tutored has passed and hit their target grade, some moving up several levels in the process.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing is building a student's confidence, not just their knowledge. A lot of students come in already feeling like they're "bad at maths," and that belief holds them back more than any actual gap in understanding. So part of the job is showing them they can do it, one small win at a time.
Beyond that, I'd say it's about meeting the student where they are rather than where a textbook assumes they are, adapting explanations to how they actually think, being patient when something takes several attempts to land, and staying focused on their specific goals.
