What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Seeing a concept finally click for a student. As a peer mentor at Monash College, I ran weekly consultation sessions and sat in on 30+ hours of classes, and those moments were the best part. I went through high school's obstacles myself, so I know how much a tutor or mentor can help with both understanding and confidence. I'd love to help students not just improve their marks, but enjoy the process.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
Patience and understanding. In my experience, students are rarely held back by the material being too hard or by not spending enough time on it. It's usually the way they're approaching it. As a tutor, I slow things down, find where the misunderstanding is, and help the student work out an approach that suits them.
Most important things I can do for a student π
Be there for them. Explaining material clearly comes first, but there's more to it than explaining concepts. Rather than giving answers straight away, I'd guide students until they get there themselves, because those eureka moments are what make learning enjoyable. Once a student starts enjoying maths, their confidence snowballs, and I think being the catalyst for that is the most important thing a tutor can do.

About Edmund
3rd Year Computer Science Student
Iβm a final-year computer science student graduating in December 2026. My coursework centres on building software and web applications, but understanding that work depends on a solid grasp of mathematics and logic. Thatβs the same foundation I enjoy helping students build.
