What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Selflessly, my enjoyment in tutoring is largely derived from the sense of accomplishment that my students - my peers - gain after they achieve a goal or grade they have dedicated themselves to. Their smiles make my day!
When a student and I make a breakthrough in their academic understanding of a concept, or more personally, in their growth and development as people, I walk away from my lesson feeling euphoric. That sense of pride that the student and I both share in that moment, to me, is priceless. It is undoubtedly a factor that inspires me to pursue a career in Education.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Whilst I am very familiarised with the Victorian Curriculum, I structure my lessons to suit the student, not rigidly the standard. I bring something new to the table every lesson; varying strategies, concepts and ideas that build upon the previous lesson to help the student learn their way, and enhance their own understanding. I don't believe in a 'one size fits all' approach.
Additionally, I like to befriend my students and get to know them on a personal level. Not only does this assist in my teaching, but I genuinely care about my students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor needs to care about their student. Without a sense of trust between teacher and student, there exists no confidence in either party. The student's faith in the system declines, as does the teacher's faith in the student. Thus, what I deem THE most important factor in tutoring is to show compassion and understanding to a student; to show them that the right teachers care about them and want them to go far. This increases motivation levels, dedicates them to a subject, and helps them recognise and unleash their own potential. A good tutor will strengthen a student's self-belief.
