What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing a student's progress over time, whether that be in a specific topic covered in only a few weeks, or over a semester or year. While there are immediate gains as a tutor, the longterm progress is really enjoyable to be apart of.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have studied a bachelor of science in the field of biology, and am now studying a masters of teaching, both with the University of Melbourne. I am very knowledgeable in my tutoring subject fields. I believe I am highly patient with students. I am approachable and easy to talk to so students feel comfortable asking me questions, even those they are embarrassed to ask. I am able to rephrase the way I say things, or run through it slower so the student can understand it in their own time and own way.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think a tutor needs to be patient and easy going in a way that students can be comfortable with, and question things they feel unable to question in their school classroom. I think tutors need to teach their students the importance of practice and resilience, especially in VCE. English is a subject which takes lots of practice and dedication, it is not something that is picked up easily. Tutors need to have the patience to run through the same issues multiple times, edit work with students and give them the tools to go off in their own time and work on critiques you have made.
