What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
I mostly enjoy the challenges tutoring poses: students learn at different rates. With my current experience, I have found that some students fully understand some explanations that I provide, whereas other students might not. This challenges me to supply alternative explanations with a similar meaning. As someone who is passionate towards mathematics, this allows me to become creative in how I can explain the material to students. I also enjoy making optional worksheets for the students: worksheets contain textbook-like questions to supplement tutorials and in-class material.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
My strengths are: quality of my responses to questions, and optional worksheets. My responses to questions are thorough and well-detailed, to support learning: identifying potential mark distribution, specificities of the questions, and my approach(es)/working. Optional worksheets contain textbook-like questions regarding material from their class and tutorials. I ask studentsโwho have timeโto work on these questions and email me their responses. This allows me to identify material the student is struggling with, so I may review it with them, or send additional notes to support their studies.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is ensure that the student grasps the concepts: my objective as a tutor is to ensure that a student fully understands the material, and ensure that they can respond to questions, of varying difficulty, regarding the material. In addition, I also firmly believe that as a tutor, it is important that I create an environment that encourages learning and academic growth, and allows students to learn from their mistakes.
