What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy the "lightbulb" moments in which the student is able to understand a concept - having been unable to do so prior to the lesson. In those moments, the student does not only improve their understanding but also feels a sense of joy themselves which increases their interest and curiosity.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe my strength lies in the fact that my knowledge of a subject is made deeper through my experiences in having learnt most humanities and arts subjects as well as indulged in many of those subjects outside of school. For instance, my education in Stage 2 Drama and Modern History compliments my understanding of English literature. Furthermore, my activities in creating writing, publishing poems and meeting poets outside of school has provided me with a large breadth of comprehension which allows me to transfer similar knowledge to students despite them learning different texts.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is provide every opportunity for them to kindle their own knowledge. As Socrates said, "Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel." In other words, it is the tutor's job to introduce new knowledge as the base tools and then question the student to allow them to come to their own understanding. This way, the student learns how to learn whilst being able to sense for themselves that they are capable.
