What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Tutoring to me is more than just teaching the students the content they need to score well in exams. I value the rapport I build with my students, and care for them in a way an older sibling would do. Most students I meet do not enjoy studying because no one has helped them find their own reason to work hard. I find joy in helping them find their own purpose to do well for their exams and also in helping them enjoy the process of learning.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As mentioned above, successfully building rapport helps my tutoring experience as students become more compliant and hard-working themselves. My emphasis is always on ensuring the students understand the content thoroughly for effective application. This, combined with solving more challenging questions together ensures that they can tackle any question that come their way. I also like to guide them in finding a learning technique unique to them, be it mind maps, active recall, watching videos, or verbal recitation, so that they can utilise these skills even as they go on to university.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
First and foremost, helping them score well for the examinations they are going to sit for. However, along the way there, I think it's important for a tutor to help them find their own reason on why they want to do well, their own unique strengths and learning styles, guide them on how to access credible resources help them develop their own voice and perspectives (especially in English essay writings), and also, taking note of their well-being (in these stressful times).
