What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy sharing my knowledge with people as it feels like I'm making a difference in another's life, especially when I'm able to watch them learn and grow first-hand. I think in this way, it's a very rewarding experience. Tutoring is also a good test of my knowledge as students ask me the tough questions that really challenge my understanding of concepts, so not only does the student learn, I learn with them.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think I have a comprehensive knowledge base in maths that has been tried and tested over the years to be well above average. I also have the ability to clearly communicate my knowledge with a student in a safe and casual environment where there are no stupid questions. I also have an advantage of being reasonably young, having gone through the HSC myself only a year and a half ago, so it is easy for me to relate to high school students and be less seen as a teacher, but more as a peer.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I consider the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to ensure that the student fully understands the content being taught at their level. I think it can be quite easy for a tutor to rush or even skip the easy stuff in favour for the more interesting, harder content, which can leave a student lost and feeling inadequate. I think I have the ability to teach at the student's level at a pace decided by how quickly the student understands the content, after all, the student is the number one priority in the eyes of a tutor.
