### What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Seeing the students understand concepts and techniques that they never thought they'd grasp - and as a result, seeing them gain confidence and succeed. I also like to see students attack a subject or problem from an angle I'd never envisaged - I learn a lot.

### My Strengths as Tutor 💪

As someone who did a lot of maths and physics at high school and university, and then re-learnt those subjects while tutoring students in the NSW HSC, I not only have a good understanding of these topics, but also a good understanding of how hard it can be to *understand* those topics first time around. I'm also patient, good at explaining complex concepts, and (quite important for any endeavour) good at identifying what's important and what's not so important.

### Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

In addition to improving the student's understanding of a particular subject area, the real value comes from:
(1) learning *how* to learn; in other words, getting to understand the many resources available (web and paper), attacking the problem, and getting the answer independently. This is empowering for the student, and essential for further study.
(2) learning that practice does really work - so even when a problem or technique seems so difficult, once you've practiced it enough, what was your least favourite topic becomes quite manageable.
