Chemistry Tutor Halekulani, NSW
I believe that as a chemistry tutor, my most crucial roles involve instilling self-confidence in my students, providing reliability, simplifying complex concepts, and fostering a genuine passion for the subjects they study. In my four years as a teacher in Italy, I've honed my tutoring skills with a strong emphasis on empathy for young minds,…

Chemistry Tutor Woongarrah, NSW
The most important thing a chemistry tutor could do is create a safe environment for the student. Learning can be more comprehensive and explicit once the student is comfortable around their tutor’s presence. The tutor also must maintain and adhere to an elaborate study plan to help the student. I am very patient and would never snap even on…

Chemistry Tutor Woongarrah, NSW
Create a supportive and positive learning environment: It’s crucial to establish trust, where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. A positive, encouraging atmosphere helps boost their confidence and motivation. I think a strength I have as a tutor is communication. As it assists me in breaking down concepts into…

Chemistry Tutor Budgewoi, NSW
As discussed before, I believe a tutor should be flexible in their teaching in order to meet the needs of each student. However even more importantly, an effective tutor should inspire students. I strongly believe that one of the greatest barriers to learning is the "study hard and get good grades" mentality. The aim of a tutor should not be…

Inside WallarahTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Ava worked on converting fractions to decimals and multiplying fractions, as well as simplifying answers.

In Year 8, Jack practiced plotting graphs for linear and non-linear equations and was introduced to calculating mean and median using real data sets.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Emily focused on solving trigonometry problems involving right-angled triangles and revised applications of scientific notation in measurement calculations.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student struggled to set out solutions for equations involving brackets—steps were missed or jumbled, making it hard to spot sign errors (he skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors).

In Year 10, a student's revision focused only on familiar graph types; when faced with tricky parabolic graphs in class, uncertainty slowed progress and feedback wasn't acted upon.

Meanwhile, a senior physics student preparing for centripetal force calculations relied heavily on notes rather than working independently.

For one Year 6 learner, confusion about time conversions led to hesitation during word problems and lost marks in tests.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Wallarah noticed one Year 11 student who'd struggled with simultaneous equations finally mastered the substitution method and could explain where he used to get stuck.

Another high schooler began solving tricky surds within algebra problems independently, having previously avoided them in class discussions. Began solving tricky surds independently.

For a younger student, their approach to word problems changed—they now work through multi-step addition questions out loud instead of guessing quietly, showing more persistence than before.

The session finished with this student reading each problem aloud and double-checking their own answers without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Lake Haven Library & Council Services—or at your child's school (with permission), like MacKillop Catholic College.
