The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to guide them academically and aid their learning outside of their classroom. I believe it is important for tutors to help achieve the students academic goals, and be a mentor that they can rely on anytime. My strength is that I am able to relate to students who struggle with studies,…

The most important things a tutor can do are to provide a safe and supportive learning environment, tailor their approach to the student’s needs, and empower them to believe in their abilities. The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to be patient. What obvious for you, won't always be obvious for your students. So you have to be patient as students are all different. My strengths as a tutor would have to be how flexible I am with my approach and techniques to match my students learning styles as they all can be…

A tutor possesses many pivotal roles in a student's journey to tertiary levels. I believe the single most crucial contribution a tutor can make is to fan the flame. If a student gives up on their own ability despite genuine interest, then their potential will be lost. A tutor has the unique capability, and responsibility, to recognise and…

A tutor should build trust, listen actively, and empower the student to believe in their abilities. I believe improving the student/s confidence in their own ability is a major factor in academic success. I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to listen and create a safe space for the student. When tutors don't listen it'll be a waste of time for both parties. This can be very hard because sometimes students may not be able to pinpoint what they don't understand or they might just feel a bit embarrassed. This is where…

Go beyond just helping them do their assignments and touch up on what they fall behind in their classes. As a tutor you need to provide the individual with problem solving skills to allow them to recognise when a situation is difficult and ways in which they can go about the problem or situation in an effective way to gain insight. I think the most important thing would be to assist a student in achieving their goals but to also challenge them to reach their potential. A tutor can make a student love the subject he/she hates. The most important thing for a tutor is to understand the student, his/her interests, aptitude, and what he/she is inclined towards. If you have a basic idea of the student mindset you can develop techniques to make them understand the subject in a way they don't find it hard. Gamification…

Local Reviews

El-Abed is a great tutor. He is very dedicated and is passionate about maths. This translates very well with his tutoring style. El-Abed is very patient with his students, and really takes the time to explain each problem. Communication between the Ezymath office and myself is excellent. They respond in a timely manner, and are very supportive with any issues.

Inside Wolli CreekTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Sophie focused on cylinders and circles, as well as comparing discrete and continuous data sets using mean, median, and mode.

In Year 11, Ethan practised solving trigonometric functions within restricted domains and worked on graphing these functions for clarity.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Emily applied differentiation rules to find equations of tangents and normals to curves, alongside further revision of rates of change using exam-style questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Advanced Maths, one student struggled with exam time management—"please also be mindful to allocate the time accordingly to the marks"—resulting in rushed explanations despite strong understanding.

Another in Year 10 Mathematics avoided showing full working for algebraic steps, which hid sign errors and slowed feedback.

In Year 8 Science, note-taking habits were inconsistent, leading to missed key terms during revision.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner found it hard to follow story sequencing and often skipped reading back aloud, making comprehension and problem-solving more difficult when tackling worded maths questions.

Recent Achievements

One Wolli Creek tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to tackle harder calculus problems now choosing to graph complex derivatives independently, applying rules for trigonometric and exponential functions without prompting.

In a Year 9 session, another student who used to skip practice questions in probability began working through each step aloud, asking clarifying questions rather than guessing—showing much more initiative than before.

Meanwhile, a younger learner in Year 4 has started sounding out unfamiliar words with little encouragement and can now retell stories in her own words after reading each chapter.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Arncliffe Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Al Zahra College.
