Physics is such a vast area, it's easy to get lost. While a lot of the content can be simply memorised, which many students still do, physics also requires higher-order thinking. Understanding the scientific method isn't a small task. All of these demands in a short period of time and with exams coming closer and closer, no wonder students shy away from science subjects. The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Matty talks aloud and tells me when he needs help understanding particular concepts. Back checking is getting much better. Would like him to write working/take notes to examples more as i go through them, having talked about the question is not enough. He is getting much better at looking for patterns in questions and understanding how to solve them, not depending on particular rules but making sure it applies first - Getting better at avoiding lazy thinking.
Claire has a great attitude, and is always actively engaged in what I am telling her. This is apparent from the well thought out questions she asks. Claire has been making a good effort in our lessons, and has completed the homework tasks I have set for her, within the time frame expected. Claire tends to make small errors as she works through problems. She needs to slow down and work through questions more carefully.
Sienna does tend have a slight tendency to rely on rules, however, hopefully the more practice she has the better she will be better in the long run. Doesn't really have any problems areas! But I believe revision is the key to success. The more practice she is able to expose her self to, the better she will be on the long run.
We're very happy with Shehara and Marco has started to build a bond with Shehara. Marco's making steady progress and we'd like to keep the Maths tutoring going.
Henry was very happy with Hayden's style of tutoring. He found him clear and concise in the way he explained methods, and was teaching him the same way his teacher is at school. Whilst I was listening in the background I could hear that Hayden was very encouraging towards Henry which I'm sure gave him some confidence to tackle the next equation. I know that Hayden will leave more and more homework going forward, he was keen to get to know Henry as a person, identify his strengths and weaknesses first.
Chris is actually very happy with Shehara. He seems motivated. He's had two sessions with her and seems to like it so all good here.
