Patience is first and foremost when you're with a student. It is vastly important that you should respect the pace at which the student learns and works at, to never pressure or rush the student, to challenge them without making them feel small or inadequate. We all learn in different ways and at different speeds - none of which are better or…

One of the things I consider the most important for a tutor to do for a student is to have patience and be amicable so that students don't feel pressured or stressed during sessions. In my opinion, a tutor should feel like someone students can go to for help outside of school in a relaxed and supportive way. It's also important to understand that…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is the ability for the student to develop a independent style of learning and facing adversities with a strategy in mind. This allows the student to not only develop academically but also fosters a lifestyle of learning that will help them transition into high education. I am clear,…

I think one of the most important things a tutor can do is create a supportive environment where the student feels safe to make mistakes and ask questions. Learning doesn't happen when a student is stressed or afraid of being wrong. One of my main strengths as a tutor is my ability to explain things in a way that makes sense to each individual…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help them understand a topic in a way that they understand. What I mean by this, is that not one student is the same as another. Some are visual learners and need practical explanations or materials to assist them to understand, others students may be auditory learners who require spoken…

I think a tutor can help a student to boost confidence in a situation where a little more dedicated time and effort could make possible. A tutor can develop a learning strategy that the student can follow, to make a difficult or boring subject easier and interesting to learn. Undivided attention by a tutor, which would help the students to…

The most important thing a tutor can do is help a student build understanding and confidence at the same time. It’s not just about getting the right answer—it’s about making sure the student knows how and why. A big part of that is explaining concepts clearly and at the student’s level, breaking things down until they truly make sense.…

A tutor should boost the confidence of the student and being a tutor shouldn't be limited to only improving the students' results. A tutor should be the student's best friend and the bond should grow while nurturing the…

EzyMath were very quick to contact me and follow up my enquiry. I received lots of information and support. The tutor they assigned for my 13yr old was a good match- they were very nice and connected with my child but not really prepared for the first lesson -but it was their first time tutoring so i was happy to give another try.

Inside Aubin GroveTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Alice worked on recognising and naming fractions, then practised telling time to the quarter hour using clock diagrams.

Year 8 student Jake focused on simplifying algebraic expressions and solving multiplication and division problems involving negative numbers.

For Year 10, Tom tackled trigonometric ratios in right-angled triangles as well as applying those basics to real-world measurement problems.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 mathematics, one student was observed skipping steps when solving problems, which made it difficult to spot where errors crept in, especially during algebraic working.

Another high schooler struggled with organising written solutions—messy layout led to confusion when reviewing multi-step geometry tasks.

In a Year 11 trigonometry session, reliance on mental calculations rather than structured working meant sign mistakes weren't noticed until late.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner sometimes avoided writing out reasoning for number problems due to fear of being wrong; this hesitation slowed progress and made homework feedback less actionable.

Recent Achievements

One Aubin Grove tutor noticed a high school student who previously hesitated to tackle harder algebra questions now asking for extra practice with negative indices and working through them mostly on his own.

Another win came when a Year 9 student, who used to need reminders for multiplication tables, completed division problems independently and even filled in Venn diagrams accurately without any prompting—something he struggled with last term.

Meanwhile, a younger student surprised his tutor by drawing "greater than" and "less than" symbols independently at the end of their session, having relied on cues just a week before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Success Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Aubin Grove Primary School.
