Physics is such a vast area, it's easy to get lost. While a lot of the content can be simply memorised, which many students still do, physics also requires higher-order thinking. Understanding the scientific method isn't a small task. All of these demands in a short period of time and with exams coming closer and closer, no wonder students shy away from science subjects. The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Kristen is coming up well, work still needs to be done on her talking aloud and format skills. Apart from that, she is developing her back checking, pen to paper, confidence skills. Her self-questioning, transfer of skills are already of an acceptable standard. She is now aware that she should seek to understand the concepts and not take short-cuts. I am yet to help her with her lazy thinking and dependency on rules.
Surae's attitude in class has been improving and she is finding motivation in small goals we have set. We have spoken about Surae's effort in our lessons in the past and I am happy to report in the most recent lesson since our chat she definitely showed an improvement in attentiveness. Surae is often forgetful with her notebooks. While this seems like a minor problem when she begins revision it is much easier to have all of her working out and knowledge kept in the one place.
Danny is making good headway. However he still has a tendency to try to do things in his head rather than put pen to paper, and sometimes needs to be reminded to back-check his work. Times tables (e.g. 9 times table) are still not as thoroughly learnt as they need to be. This needs practice.
We are extremely happy with Jerrold! Max and Jerry seem to have a good rapport and are making progress.
All is going well, Marvin and Chris have hit it off and the tutoring is helpful.
Elijah says Shan is a really good teacher and is finding it really helpful. We're happy so far with how things are going.
