She remains dependent on some rules but is getting a lot better at understanding concepts as opposed to just learning a rule or a method.
The decisive factor which determines the Math competence for any student, particularly Y12 VCE students, is how much relevant problems they solve per week. Kane definitely needs to assign more time per day on getting exposed to different problems with different hardness levels, as this will enhance his understanding to the underlying mathematical theories and rules, and improve his fluency and getting the correct steps and results, which will ultimately be reflected on his overall SACs grades.
Currently, I see an issue with her understanding of square numbers and how square roots affect them. We are working on numerous problems to correct any misunderstanding. We are also revisiting her past test to see where further attention is needed.
All going well so far. We feel confident that it will help with Emily's confidence.
