The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
The focus recently has been on Mary's presentation skills rather formal learning strategies. She has a good grasp of these though she still has a tendency to try and complete all work in her head rather than pen to paper. In addition utilising other problem solving techniques rather than simply guess and check and expanding these strategies will be a focus in the next few months.
Katie is a very enthusiastic learner, willing to commit herself to a task, although it is best to vary these and keep them shorter to help hold her attention. She is always able to complete tasks set for her when requested.
The problem areas present are mainly to do with underlying gaps within times tables and other routine skills. Furthermore, though tutoring assists with clarifying areas of concern, retaining information is easier to achieve in routine environments.
