The most important things a physics tutor can do for a student is to ensure that they are confident in their abilities and never waver in their confidence. Always ensure that the student is driven and motivated. This can be done by identifying the student's weaknesses and addressing them thoroughly; turning them into strengths.A tutor must also…

Motivating them, something many students struggle with is the motivation to continue studying, not because they are lazy, but because of things in their life out of control. When you motivate and teach them and help them see progress from their efforts, it gives them back the drive they need to keep pushing forward My strength lies in connecting…

I think the most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student isn't to just teach them the content, but instill a certain way of thinking. This way of carrying yourself can be summed up in five words: the relentless pursuit of knowledge. I wish to bring that mindset to the students I tutor so they not only make the most of their learning…

Teaching effectively so that the student can understand the content. It is important to make the students do their own work, rather than doing it for them as they do not learn effectively if the tutor does the work for them. The tutor must also commit to every class and treat every student equally with respect. - My strength are maths and…

One of the most important things would be the environment the tutor and student are in. The more comfortable but slightly stressed-out the students are, the more productive the tutoring session would be. Inside Condell ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Tarek practised probability with Venn diagrams and basic set notation, while Year 10 student Omar worked on trigonometric ratios using SOH CAH TOA and exact value tables from Exercise 6A of the Cambridge textbook.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sarah focused on polynomial division and learned to apply the remainder theorem through guided examples and homework questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student's algebra work was often hard to follow, as messy setting out and misaligned equal signs disrupted their thought process—"his working out needs a lot of work, can be messy at times," one tutor noted.

In Year 12, forgetting to show all steps in calculus led to avoidable errors on exam questions, which meant time was lost rechecking answers instead of building confidence.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student relied heavily on using fingers for calculations when faced with worded problems involving operations, slowing progress and masking gaps in applying multiplication or division flexibly.

Recent Achievements

One Condell Park tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who, after struggling to set out "show and prove" questions clearly, now draws diagrams first and uses them to guide her answers—something she hadn't tried before.

In Year 10, another student recently tackled domain and range by asking the hardest questions he could think of, then worked through each one until he understood fully instead of giving up early.

Meanwhile, a primary student named Scarlett shaved time off her times tables speed test and raised her score after practicing strategies suggested in tutoring sessions.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Canterbury Bankstown Library Service—or at your child's school (with permission), like Condell Park Public School.
