Being open. It is so crucial that the tutor is inviting and welcoming so the student does not feel uncomfortable. You can only learn in an environment which is safe, comfortable, and considerate of whatever circumstances you are facing. Without taking these as the foundation, teaching students is far from reach. William is excited as he is learning more with Bailey than with his math's teacher. Baileys methods are easy to follow and very helpful. Bailey is always on time and puts in 110%. After every session, you can see the smile on William's face and his new found confidence. We are very impressed and very lucky to have Bailey tutor William.

Inside CranbourneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student worked on adding three- and four-digit numbers using written strategies.

In Year 9, Grace explored essay planning for "The Women of Troy" and practised writing a body paragraph to improve her text response structure.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Akshara focused on language analysis skills by examining persuasive techniques in articles from class and developing structured responses based on those examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student preparing for science exams was advised to spend time reviewing detailed content—like types of decay and function transformations—but "a couple mistakes when trying to substitute transformations" showed that small calculation errors crept in when steps were skipped.

Meanwhile, a VCE English student left her oral presentation work very late, resulting in over-reliance on casual arguments rather than researched evidence; she struggled to convert plans into full paragraphs under deadline pressure.

For a younger Year 7 learner, untidy written maths working sometimes made it hard to spot where sign or calculation slips had happened.

Recent Achievements

A Cranbourne tutor recently noted that a Year 12 student, Tapson, who previously hesitated with physics application questions, managed to solve a complex problem independently on heat transfer after working through analogies together.

Another high schooler, Manasvi, showed real initiative by completely revising her oral presentation's conclusion without prompting—last week she'd struggled to keep arguments concise, but this time she shaped her speech to fit strict time limits.

In primary years, Hannah used to guess at multiplication tables; now she quickly answers negative number problems and even tackles basic algebra unaided.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cranbourne Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Agatha's School.
