Biology Tutor Shell Cove, NSW
The most important things for a biology tutor to do is to help a student strengthen their own ability to learn independantly. It is far more important that a student understands the learning process and what works best for them rather than simply memorise a single topic. Having transferable skills as a student and being able to apply their…

Biology Tutor Shell Cove, NSW
I believe a biology tutor should be a role model. Where they should embody not only the study skills they teach but also be honest, patient and a motivator, all whilst being professional. Through this a student can grow both academically and as a person allowing them to reap the rewards more deeply. A tutors role is to listen and provide their…

Biology Tutor Albion Park, NSW
I think one of the most important things a tutor can do is build a student’s confidence. It’s not just about helping them get the right answer, but helping them believe they’re capable of getting there on their own. A tutor should also create a supportive environment where the student feels safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn at…

Inside DunmoreTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Grace worked on area of composite shapes and basic trigonometry, using diagrams to help break down complex problems.

In Year 10, Daniel focused on algebra basics and completed a pre-test to review his understanding ahead of new classwork.

For Year 11, Emily revised compound interest calculations as part of financial maths and practised applying formulas to real-world scenarios.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student often wrote answers without structuring working out, which made it difficult to spot calculation errors—"setting out her working out with clear headings and steps" was a consistent need.

In Year 11 trigonometry, not labeling diagrams or reading questions fully led to confusion about which rule to use, as one note put it: "just needs to read worded questions carefully, especially trig (when drawing a triangle from words)."

A Year 8 algebra session saw mistakes with negatives when each step wasn't shown; extra time went into correcting these rather than building confidence.

Recent Achievements

In Dunmore, a Year 11 student who had previously struggled with equations involving fractions is now working through these independently, showing clear improvement in both speed and accuracy.

Another high schooler recently completed a challenging trigonometry question from a past HSC paper on her own. Just weeks ago, she needed step-by-step guidance for similar problems.

In a Year 8 session, a student who used to rush and skip steps is now carefully setting out their working, resulting in fewer errors and greater confidence tackling two-step equations without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Shellharbour Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Shellharbour Anglican College.
