Support my students and give them the skills to excel in their education while also fulfilling their goals. This can mean different things for different students, so depending on the goals and needs of the students we can together curate a study plan for success. According to me, it is to be open and provide a comfortable environment to the students, where they can study and share their thoughts without hesitating. Apart from this, it is to make learning a fun process by teaching in a more fun way, this includes doing different activities to make children understand the concepts, etc. I do possess great…

I think that as a tutor, we should be different from teachers at school. We should provide extra care to their needs and catering to what areas of a particular topic they are struggling with, in order for them to improve. Therefore, I think that conducting a personalized teaching plan for the students to observe and explore what methods they can…

Encouragement. Encouraging my students while building their confidence is the most important thing that I will do for my students. I would not want a single moment to pass for my students thinking that they lack in any way. A few hard problems to solve at school are not enough to discourage them. Personally, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is not only teach them a certain concept but rather equip them with the tools to be able to learn the concept and future concepts themselves. Whether that may be going through study strategies or instilling motivation, the main crux of the job should be so that the student can…

Inside InglewoodTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Angus focused on determining missing angles within geometric structures and calculating amounts given ratios.

For Year 8, Sienna worked through solving equations and revising key algebra skills like expanding and factorising expressions, using practice questions to build confidence.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Jacob tackled finding the area and perimeter of composite shapes as well as converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages to strengthen both geometry and numeracy foundations.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 maths, homework was sometimes incomplete or missing key working—one tutor noted, "there was no working shown," which made it hard to check understanding of equations.

During a Year 10 geometry session, tiredness led to minimal progress and several questions were left unattempted when confusion arose, rather than trying best reasoning.

Messy handwriting also became an obstacle in algebra tasks: on one occasion, unclear layout meant previous steps couldn't be interpreted correctly during review.

In Year 7 probability work, careless notation on tree diagrams resulted in incorrect outcomes being recorded and misinterpretation later in revision sessions.

Recent Achievements

One Inglewood tutor noticed a real shift in a Year 10 student who previously hesitated to ask for help—before an upcoming test, he now clearly communicated what topics needed revision and even requested specific notes for study.

A Year 8 student, after struggling with breaking shapes into parts for area calculations, began independently tackling complex problems once the process clicked.

Meanwhile, a younger student who used to dislike tessellation not only completed challenging textbook exercises but also admitted the practice was starting to make sense—she finished the session able to explain her answers out loud without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Inglewood Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Inglewood Primary School.
