The most important thing a tutor can do to a student is make student believe that student can learn and reach proper solution. Every one has the potential to learn things so, once a student starts believing in himself/herself studying starts to become fun. I as a tutor hardly give up on my students. I can only be satisfied and feel peaceful once I…

Tutors should check for understanding as they go and constantly build confidence so that the student feels like their abilities are improving. When a student feels confident, wonderful things begin to happen. Their curiosity is ignited, and they are more likely to ask questions in class and read additional texts about things that interest them.…

The most important thing a tutor can do is not to flaunt their own brainpower like a flashy superhero cape. Instead, it’s about helping students discover their own hidden superpowers and showing them how to wield these talents for their own success. Think of it like being a treasure map that leads them to their own buried gems—helping them…

I am really happy with the tutoring Mitchell has been receiving from Jack Grant. Mitch seems to respond well to Jack and they seem to communicate really well. Mitch had a mock Maths Methods exam last week and whilst his mark was not exactly where we would like it to be, Mitch did say he was confident in answering a couple of questions that Jack had gone through with him. Jack is a really good tutor for Mitch and he relates well. He is professional and friendly and certainly knows his stuff! I would fully recommend him to anyone needing some extra help.

Inside Kidman ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Lily practised calculating the volume and surface area of 3D shapes, then applied these skills to solve measurement problems.

In Year 8, Jake focused on solving linear equations and inequalities, using practice questions to reinforce techniques ahead of a test.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sophie tackled matrix algebra by learning to solve linear equations with matrices and began exploring mathematical induction through identifying conjectures.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student working on negative exponents and powers often avoided writing each calculation step, as a tutor noted: "he tried to do too much in his head and lost track of negatives."

This made it harder to catch errors, especially when converting between scientific notation and basic numerals.

Meanwhile, in Year 11, a student tackling proof questions sometimes struggled with layout—proofs were jotted without clear separation of statements or logic.

In those moments, extra time went into untangling reasoning rather than deepening understanding, making revision feel frustrating instead of productive.

Recent Achievements

One Kidman Park tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who used to skip steps when factorising quadratics; last week, she independently checked each stage and corrected her own sign error before the tutor said a word.

In another session, a Year 9 student—who previously guessed at unknown angles in triangles—started writing out full reasoning for each answer and asked to try extra practice questions.

Meanwhile, a younger student finally stopped mixing up area and perimeter formulas, confidently finding both without prompting on their revision sheet.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Findon Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kidman Park Primary School.
