The most important things I can do for a student are to support their individual learning journey and to empower them to believe in their own abilities. This means more than just helping them understand content—it involves creating a space where they feel heard, valued, and encouraged to ask questions without fear of judgment. I strive to equip…

Most important thing for any tutor is to understand their student well. If they know the students quite well only then they could develop the educational materials and classes that caters the student's need. Next big thing is encouraging the students and help them maintain a positive attitude. Only if the student is motivated and have positive…

In my opinion, the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to break a concept down to its simplest form. In my school days, I often found this to be the easiest way to learn. If your basic foundation of any concept is strong, it gets much easier to build on that and learn more complex information pertaining to it. Moreover, being…

I think tutor should do everything for his or her students because after the parents only teacher is one person who can very closed for the student. Tutor should look after their students and if they have any bad habit then it's tutor responsibility to guide them in right direction and also inform their parents. Tutor can make hard subject into…

I think a tutor can bring out the inner talent of a student. Suppose a student who could not able to gain a good marks in exams or failing continuously, I will give that student mental support. For maths, I think the most important thing for students is to understand the concepts rather than just knowing the formula themselves. It really helps build the foundation to solve maths problems, especially in maths specialists which requires critical thinking. I can make the student not only competent, but also comfortable and confident in a certain topic. I understand how stressful hard subjects can be. The most important thing I can do for a student is providing the tools and resources to be able to tackle problems independently, no matter the difficulty. To do this, it is important to design personalised methodologies that allow students to learn the basic knowledge, get familiar with some examples and then put into practice what was learned…

Inside ManningTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Charlie focused on solving linear equations, including those involving fractions and progressively challenging questions.

For Year 9, Mae worked through stem-and-leaf plots and explored measures of central tendency using real data sets.

Meanwhile, Year 5 student Sarah practiced converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages, applying these skills to everyday ratio problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student arrived without a formula sheet, which meant advanced chemistry problems couldn't be attempted; "we had to stick to basic practice," as noted.

In Year 8 maths, missed homework was highlighted twice before the break—2.5 hours set but not yet completed.

For a Year 10 English essay, facing the full draft caused overwhelm: ideas stalled until structure was broken into smaller steps.

During Year 9 algebra, skipping written working led to sign errors in linear equations that went unnoticed at first glance. In these moments, confidence dipped and momentum slowed as gaps became more visible.

Recent Achievements

One Manning tutor noticed that Mae, a Year 10 student, has started to persist with 3D geometry problems despite previously sharing how much she struggled to visualise them—last week, she worked through half and quarter cylinder questions without giving up.

Charlie (Year 11) had been making small errors in coordinate geometry but recently completed a full set independently of complex ratio and backwards-solving tasks for the first time.

In English, a high school student who was often hesitant about essay writing produced a solid response on their own and began asking for new strategies to tackle exam questions.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Manning Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Manning Primary School.
