The proof is always in the action, to get an idea of how tutoring works in practice check out some feedback from tutors. Typically tutors focus on strategies needed to make progress, what's going well and what needs improvement. Of course, every tutor has their own unique style that is tailored to your child's specific needs.
Gabby is encouraged to talk aloud more often when working through problems. This ensures that I understand her thought process and can highlight any changes that need to be made. Her ability to back check on her work is good, but more is needed to make sure that no silly mistakes are made. Gabby is also encouraged to write down more of her working during lessons, so that she doesn't forget what was discussed and the methods used.
The student's work habits are declining. I spoke to the student about it and she believes that she is quite busy with school and other work and cannot manage enough time for math. I am planning to spend some time with the student to see her time table and check when she can devote more time to maths.
For Heidi her biggest issue is her confidence and some of the basic concepts (such as knowing her tables, division facts and fraction work). However Heidi is learning at an incredible speed completing a new table each week and covering a lot of content in our division and fraction work in a very short space of time. Utilising long division techniques is still a little challenging, so I will continue to focus on this so she can complete this unassisted.

Hi Erica, thank you for your email. Things have started well with Jacob and hopefully they will continue in the same way. I think in this case, the difference for Jamie is that she can ask Jacob about a problem that she is struggling with and he can answer her straight away. Vivian was able to answer her too but it took her longer and I think the time factor was what was frustrating Jamie. As I'm sure you are aware in year 12 there is such a time crunch that any delays just add more pressure.
