What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I absolutely love teaching, and watching students grow in their knowledge, but with a sense of accomplishment and newfound abilty to take on new challenges, because they now feel capable enough! So I feel it is so rewarding to be able to help them get to that place!

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am a very sociable person, with a patient temperament. I enjoy working with children, and I feel they find it very easy to connect with me, which will allow me as a tutor to teach them effectively. I also fine that I can cater instructions towards the abilities of any type of person, no matter if they struggle or can easily understand their work.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Whilst the main purpose of tutoring is to help students grow in their knowledge, I do also believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be patient and show them that they are capable and help them create a growth mindset, that even if they might not be able to do a specific task now, with help and hard work they will get there! I think helping a student feel good enough is more important than just learning on its own, because that is the mindset that will be far more valuable going through life!

About Shauna

Emerging Young Leader with Strong School Involvement

Shauna is a recent Year 12 graduate who brings fresh, relatable experience to primary and high school students. As College Captain and Student Representative Council Chair, she regularly spoke with staff, led student initiatives and supported younger peers, giving her strong communication and mentoring skills. Her involvement in school mentoring programs, including a “big sister” role, means she is used to guiding younger students through both academic and personal challenges in a calm, approachable way.

Hands-On English Teaching and Mentoring Experience

Shauna already has real classroom-style experience, having helped teach English classes on an overseas missions trip. She has also worked in a kids’ ministry setting, planning activities, explaining concepts clearly and keeping younger children engaged and on track. These roles have trained her to break ideas into simple steps, give clear instructions and manage different ability levels at once, all of which transfer directly into effective one-on-one or small group tutoring.

Relatable Role Model with Strong Values and Work Habits

This tutor combines strong leadership awards with down-to-earth practicality. She is described as hard working, friendly and efficient, and has managed responsibilities such as stall management and money handling at community events. Shauna’s active involvement in school and community life helps her connect with students who may be shy, distracted or lacking confidence. She aims to be a positive role model, showing students how to stay organised, communicate well and take pride in their learning.
