What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Having firsthand experience with the frustration that students face when mathematical concepts do not make sense or 'click', helping them work through these challenges and gain confidence is deeply satisfying and fulfilling for me

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think I am patient, willing to explain/ellaborate concepts in many different ways, approachable, and empathetic (particularly in my delivery tone). This way, I can maximize the probability that they internalise what is being taught.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think taking a holistic/personalised approach is very important, rather than focusing on content alone (although this should be the main focus, of course). This includes being attentive of their strengths and difficulties during study, and tailoring lessons accordingly.

About David

High-achieving maths specialist who understands the school system

David is a high-performing maths student currently studying a Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences, majoring in Pure Maths. He topped his school cohort in all levels of mathematics and achieved more than 90% in both Extension 1 and Extension 2. Having excelled in senior maths while still quite young, he understands how challenging the jump between year levels can be. This tutor focuses on clear explanations, step-by-step methods and exam-style practice to help students lift marks and feel genuinely confident.

Real tutoring experience with peers and family

David already has hands-on experience tutoring classmates and a younger family member in Maths Advanced and Extension topics. He has run informal study sessions, explaining difficult extension concepts before major exams and breaking down ideas that others found confusing. Through this, he has learnt how to quickly spot where a student is stuck and adjust his explanations. Parents can expect patient, structured support that is closely aligned with current school content and assessment styles.

Clear communicator who brings extra interests into lessons

Beyond maths, David has helped learners of English overseas, supporting a lead teacher by guiding discussions and helping students refine their responses. This has strengthened his communication skills and his ability to encourage quieter or less confident students. His interest in chess and tennis also shapes his tutoring style: he likes to treat problem-solving like a strategy game and goal-setting like sports training, using small, achievable targets to build momentum and long-term confidence in learning.
