What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I thoroughly enjoy turning a subject that a student struggles with into one that they enjoy and can be successful at. I especially cherish the moments that a topic finally clicks for a student, and it transforms their academic trajectory. I find the subjects I tutor interesting and I want other students to see that too.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think, as a tutor, I make a strong effort to teach a topic catering to each specific students’ learning style. I am patient, and have the ability to explain a challenging topic in many ways. I also was recently a student, and can understand them on both an academic, but also a social level.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important things a tutor can do is listen attentively, and bring excitement into each session. Tutoring is more listening to the areas in which the student is confused rather than trying to explain everything. It is also essential to have enthusiasm about topics, because if you aren’t interested in a subject then the student who already struggles with it will not be interested either.

About Tyler

Strong Maths Foundations from an Engineering Honours Graduate

Tyler is a high-achieving biomedical engineering graduate who has studied advanced mathematics far beyond school level, including multivariable calculus, differential equations and statistics. This depth means he can explain both the “how” and the “why” behind school maths in a clear, down-to-earth way. Having consistently earned results above 90%, he understands what examiners look for and helps students build step-by-step problem-solving methods, not just memorise formulas.

Experienced Calculus Tutor Who Breaks Concepts Down Simply

As a university calculus tutor, Tyler has supported students in courses ranging from college algebra and pre-calculus through to Calculus 1 & 2 and differential equations. He is used to working with learners who feel “stuck” and turning difficult topics into manageable pieces with lots of worked examples. Tyler regularly helps students prepare for tests by designing targeted practice questions and showing multiple ways to approach a problem, building both confidence and independence.

Patient Coach with Experience Teaching Young Learners

Beyond the classroom, Tyler has taught adaptive ski lessons for children with disabilities, giving him real experience explaining ideas in different ways, staying patient, and keeping learning fun. He brings this same calm, encouraging style to tutoring, checking in often to make sure students truly understand before moving on. Whether a child is aiming to catch up or extend themselves, this tutor focuses on creating a positive, low-pressure environment where questions are always welcome.
