What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy helping students understand concepts they once thought were too difficult. I believe many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because they haven’t been taught in a way that suits them. With patience and the right approach, I love seeing things finally “click†and watching their confidence grow. From my experience tutoring at Nkoyaphiri, supporting students preparing for their final primary school exams, I found it especially rewarding to see them light up as they began to understand and believe in themselves.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths as a tutor include patience, clear communication, and the ability to adapt my teaching style to each student. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into simple steps to help students understand and build confidence. With my A-level Mathematics background, I have a strong foundation in the subject, and my experience tutoring at Nkoyaphiri has helped me support different types of learners effectively.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is understand each student individually by identifying both their strengths and areas for improvement. Recognising what they do well helps build confidence as much as addressing challenges. A tutor should also create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. Most importantly, tutoring should be tailored to each student’s needs to help them improve effectively.

About Marang

Strong Mathematics Background with Actuarial Science Focus

Marang is studying Actuarial Science, a highly mathematics- and statistics-focused degree, giving her a deep understanding of the concepts students meet in school Maths. Her own results in advanced Mathematics were consistently in the top range, so she knows what it takes to succeed. She explains ideas step by step, linking classwork to real-life examples like data, patterns and simple risk calculations, helping students see Maths as something logical and even enjoyable, not just a list of rules to memorise.

Proven Experience Tutoring Primary Students in Maths and Science

This tutor has hands-on experience working with primary students preparing for major end-of-school exams in Mathematics and Science. She planned weekly sessions, broke down exam-style questions into manageable parts, and taught specific techniques for tackling problem-solving and multiple-choice questions. By revisiting tricky topics regularly and using practice papers, she helped students build both accuracy and confidence. Parents can expect structured sessions that balance revision, clear explanation and plenty of guided practice.

Patient, Empathetic Support and Clear Communication

Marang brings strong communication skills and genuine care to every lesson. Through her volunteer work supporting children with disabilities, she has learnt to be patient, observant and adaptable to different learning needs and personalities. She listens carefully to what a student finds confusing, then rephrases and uses simple examples or drawings until it clicks. With her calm, encouraging style and reliable organisation, she creates a safe space where students feel comfortable asking questions and are motivated to keep improving.
