What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
While tutoring Maths, I found that having a student finally understand a difficult concept due to your help is hugely rewarding! Personally, tutoring seems more like a responsibility - if I can help others learn, then I definitely should.
With English (specifically Literature), the discussion of the authors themes and ideas has always been a lot of fun. I found that uncovering the many distinct layers of meaning within a text was always both rewarding and truly fascinating!
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As far as I can tell, my greatest strength as a tutor is my ability to truly understand the topic. I avoided rote-learning throughout school, and instead sought a genuine, intuitive understanding of mathematical concepts. This involved using differentiation by first principles to understand (and partly memorise) the formula sheet.
Through seeking to understand why mathematical formulas and rules apply, teaching someone said formulas becomes a much easier task for both student and teacher.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing I can do as a tutor is provide a second perspective on the student's year 12 experience.
While completing VCE, our school hired students who had finished year 12 the year before to be available after school and during classes to tutor. While they hadn't had any formal tutoring experience, I found that the best thing they could do was talk about what they did in year 12 in these classes, how they managed their time - having a second perspective on this massively stressful year is incredibly useful.

Definitely more to work on with recognising which equation of constant acceleration to use - I've set homework to write down worked examples for equations of constant acceleration as well as some force questions.
Went really well with all of the velocity graphs and equations - projectile motion also went well
