What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
When I teach something and my student is able to learn it successfully, I find it very rewarding. I enjoy seeing my student practice and eventually master a concept because of me. I like to see students improve and feel proud for them. Moreover, I also like interacting with people and learning about their background and cultures, which I can do as a tutor.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I am a medical student and hence I know the importance of a having a good tutor to succeed academically. I was previously in a highly competitive school, and hence know how to navigate the high stress and pressurising environment in order to stand out and do well to get into medicine. I was also previously a tutor for underprivileged students who struggle academically and need help catching up with their peers. To be able to remain as a tutor at that organisation, I demonstrated the patience to teach these students who needed a lot more help than the average student, as our lessons were to only place outside of school where the student could study due to unsuitable home environments. I also demonstrated empathy and the ability to communicate with students in a way that makes them feel comfortable around me to speak up when they need help in certain concepts. My students see me as a friend and know that I would never judge them.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I think all students have their goals in life, but they may struggle to reach them because of the academic hurdle. The most important thing a tutor can do is to help them overcome the hurdle by improving their studies, so that they can do whatever they want to in the future. It is also encouraging them and giving them motivation to reach their goals, even if they may find it impossible. The best thing a tutor can do is to believe in a studentβs potential and tell them to never give up.
