The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them build confidence in their own abilities. When a student believes in themselves, they’re more likely to take on challenges, ask questions, and keep trying, even when things get tough. My strengths are patience, adaptability, and the ability to break down complex concepts in…

Creating a safe and encouraging learning environment, fostering curiosity, and building a student’s confidence are some of the most important contributions a tutor can make. My strengths include patience, clear…

A good study habit. It is vital to grow their passion of studying rather than just teaching the knowledge. Therefore, I will try my best to bring them enjoyable study experience while maintaining high educational quality. I am an international student from China who has done high school here, thus, I have experienced both west and east education.…

Most of these students who are being tutored most likely are struggling with the subject/s they are being tutored in. From previous experience, I've observed students do better in subjects they enjoy learning about. Hence I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help them find aspects of the subject which they enjoy and…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student would be to be able to have the student reach their goals in their school work, tests and grades. I am great at explaining things in details. For example, if I were to be tutoring maths, instead of only showing answers, I would explain the steps to the answer and better explain concepts to help…

A tutor should recognise a person's academic abilities and enable them to succeed in achieving their best correspondingly. They are also responsible for suggesting possible ways to improve the person's study methods (e.g. visual learning, songs, or writing). I'm confident in my communication so i can explain detail and concepts in a digestible…

I think the most important is to keep a check whether the student is understanding then and there and not relying on some youtube video they might watch later. In my opinion, the most critical responsibility of a tutor is not during the teaching phase, but in the phase that comes after the lesson. After learning the theory, the student will begin practising problems related to the topic and it is during this period, that most of the learning takes place. Hence, it is important for tutors to be there to…

Changing the perspective of the subject. I know too many teachers that have made an already challenging subject even more difficult. The most important things a tutor can do are to build the student’s confidence, foster independent thinking, and create a supportive learning environment. I think that being patient and empathetic are two of the most important things a tutor can do for a student. Listening empathetically to a student can help a tutor to understand the way that the student thinks. In turn, the student feels understood and real improvements can be made. Patience is important for many reasons in tutoring. In my…

A tutor or a teacher builds his student's knowledge, clears any misconceptions if he have, clears their sight between right and wrong behaviors, help them to achieve their learning goals and to decide what they want to be in future. Apart from a good communication and knowledge, patience is one of the most important strengths required in a teacher…

Inside WindsorTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Nicholas practised converting mixed numbers to decimals and ordering decimals, then moved on to rounding decimals to different place values.

In Year 9, Ava worked through SOH-CAH-TOA trigonometry rules for right triangles and solved word problems using the Pythagorean theorem.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Matthew focused on expanding and factorising algebraic expressions—including perfect squares—and applied these skills in exercises involving difference of two squares.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Mathematics, incomplete homework meant key credit card and interest concepts were forgotten—this showed up in quiz struggles. "A significant amount of knowledge...was lost over the last week due to incompletion of homework," a tutor noted.

In Physics (Year 12), written work for mechanics topics was sometimes hard to follow, with missed steps during multi-part calculations leading to errors that slowed progress on Module 5 questions.

For a Year 8 student, skipping working on paper and relying only on mental maths led to confusion in algebra problems; this habit made it harder to spot where mistakes crept in.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Windsor noticed one high school student who used to skip note-taking now diligently writes down key tips and even refers back to them when tackling new material.

Another secondary student, after weeks of struggling with logarithms, finally began applying log rules independently during practice questions, marking a real turning point in their understanding.

In Year 4, a younger learner who often guessed at answers started raising her hand to ask clarifying questions instead—showing she's becoming more comfortable seeking help rather than staying silent or guessing.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Prahran / Windsor Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Windsor Primary School.
