Sometimes students are going through external things that may affect their progress. Slow progress does not always mean that they are not trying. The most important thing in my opinion is motivating them so that they believe that if they try their best they will be more than happy with the results. I am extremely patient and I am great at getting…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do are: 1) provide clarity, 2) build confidence, and 3) foster independent thinking. A good tutor doesn't just help students get the right answers, they help students understand the process and develop the skills to tackle future challenges on their own. Encouraging students to ask questions, think…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to celebrate even the smallest of wins. No matter how slow or hard progress is, it is still progress! Of course it is important to push students, but it is equally important to build their self confidence. One of my strengths is my patience. Thanks to my past experience as a Teacher's…

A tutor has to make sure a student enjoys the content they are learning that they want to improve rather than just being there because their parents made them take the tutoring. Whether that's ensuring the student sees their growth in a subject or presenting the information in a way they enjoy. Im studying Math teaching at a secondary level at…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to understand their educational situation, and come up with different methods and techniques to create interest in the them, and making learning more fun. A tutor should also encourage students to make mistakes. This would enable the student to learn more about the subject and come up with…

Teach them the relevant and easy methods. Test their knowledge time to time. In the end test whether they have understood what I have taught. Be kind enough to teach anything till they understand. I think its my interest and I try to teach in a way I fond it easier for anyone to catch up. I try to give anyone the most, the best I can do to help…

I consider the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is helping them achieve the results they want to pave the way for future career pathways. This can be achieved by maximising a student's potential through motivation, encouragement, and engaging them with the content that you are tutoring them for. There is nothing worse than just…

Personally, I believe in three things a good tutor can do for a student. First, Can Encourage every child understanding their speciality and treating them differently. The prevailing inherited difference in them is a mean to stimulus the school going students and that can be done by the tutor. Second, Can Motivate on every walk to the student…

I think the most important thing is making the student believe they are capable of learning, before anything else. A lot of students arrive at tutoring already convinced they're 'just bad at maths' or that everyone else gets it except them. The first job of a tutor is to break down that belief. That means reassuring them there is no rush, that…

Help them become enthusiastic about learning, and change how they see what they are capable of. I am good at improving a students ability to learn. Being patient and understanding. At the beginning of my tutoring journey, I provided several private one on one tutoring sessions. Never push them and…

A good tutor should create a comfortable environment where the student should feel free to ask questions, identify gaps in their knowledge, and gradually making students capable of solving problems on their own. I think the most important thing is for the student to truly understand what hes actually doing in the subject. Inside ApplecrossTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Jack practised calculating area, length, and perimeter of shapes and worked through times tables for improved recall.

In Year 8, Ava explored linear equations before starting an investigation on parabolas, then compared pie charts with introductory algebra to build confidence in interpreting data.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 student reviewed test material covering measurements and percentages alongside calculations with equations and matrices, focusing on efficient problem-solving methods.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student working on matrices and data interpretation left several homework tasks incomplete, as noted: "didn't do homework," which meant less opportunity to clarify errors with mean, mode, and median.

In Year 8 algebra, test planning issues led to only 42% on a problem-solving assessment—time was spent re-checking calculations instead of moving forward.

A Year 4 student preparing for word problems often avoided writing out workings for subtraction and multiplication, erasing repeatedly when answers felt imperfect. In the moment, this made reviewing strategies difficult and slowed overall progress during lessons.

Recent Achievements

One Applecross tutor noticed a Year 11 student who used to guess on statistics questions now carefully checks for the right graph—she can clearly explain when to use histograms versus box-and-whisker plots, which was a real sticking point before.

A Year 9 boy, after weeks of confusing mode and median, started pausing to double-check which measure fits each question, instead of rushing ahead and mixing them up.

In a younger session, a Year 4 girl who once hesitated with multi-digit addition solved two- and three-digit word problems independently and asked for more challenging sums at the end.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Civic Square Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Benedict's School. Contact us at Ezy Math Tutoring Applecross, 22 Fletcher St, Applecross WA 6153, (08) 6365 5046
