As a tutor, I could assist students to understand their subjects by motivating them involving an interactive class with students. When I went to tutoring, I had the best experience by having a very motivated, interactive and interesting tutor. I will try to become one of them though I'm still yet to gain formal experience of tutoring In addition,…

The tutor must be patient and approachable. He/she should make sure that the student should be able to understand the lesson and perform well in class. I am patient and kind. I prepare my own materials for the lessons. I also make mock up quizzes and exams. I am creative in making them understand the lesson like relating the subject to the normal…

Understand the student, be patient with them and rather than becoming the student's boss, become their leader/role model and guide them towards their goals. A tutor should also have a growth mindset with his students and always be positive not letting his students drop their heads. I'm very patient and I also completed a Psychology internship in a…

Tutoring is very different to a typical classroom setting. Each session is unique and solely focused on the one student. This one-to-one learning experience is something many students wouldn’t normally get in a classroom. Naturally, they’ll be able to ask as many questions as they want. As a result, I’ll feel I’m making a real difference…

A tutor can guide a student to succeed. Not only in studies, but life in general. If tutors can make students aware of certain things which changes how they operate and that is the greatest thing a tutor can do. I am very patient and understanding. I think being more practical, by being more open. By explaining problems with examples of real life, with things they already know and have seen. I think helping them with the home work related problems and also giving them a problem or two to solve from the teaching of the day. Simple things like repetitive recalling and revising can also do…

Students are often scared of certain subjects and avoid facing their problems. For a tutor to be successful at his/her job, they need to be able to help the child overcome those fears and enjoy the subject they were once afraid of. Tutoring can be very challenging sometimes. Patience and not comparing them with the others. I believe that each student has their own pace of learning. I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is to build both understanding and confidence in a student. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to make the student understand in a easy and comfortable way, even if the tutor has to repeat it so many times for them. Another important thing is that all children should not be left behind, as I tutor, he/she should move together at the pace of students and that no one should be left out.…

The tutor chosen for my daughter connected with her at the first lesson and has made the idea of being tutored a positive experience. Which I very grateful for. I gave you 1 star less as I had difficulty in trying to pay for one of the prepaid packages.

Inside BeecroftTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Hamish worked on classifying numbers, as well as converting decimals to fractions and identifying multiples and factors.

For Year 10, Ella focused on measurement questions involving absolute and percentage error, then moved to linear graphs—finding gradients and y-intercepts using examples from her textbook.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Arish tackled challenging complex number problems alongside some proof questions set by his school teacher.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student was observed "cramming all homework into one sitting," resulting in rushed responses and gaps when tackling advanced topics like polynomials and logarithms. This left little room for meaningful revision or feedback use before lessons.

In Year 10, a student repeatedly relied on the formula sheet for trigonometry instead of memorising key relationships—"he kept checking the sheet each time rather than recalling the rule."

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner skipped reading full word problems, leading to frequent misinterpretation: answers often missed key details from later sentences. This tendency undermined their confidence when faced with multi-step questions in class.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Beecroft recently noted a Year 11 student who previously hesitated with exam techniques now independently pinpoints her weaker areas and applies new strategies to tackle them.

In Year 8 maths, one student who often guessed when stuck has started pausing to ask clarifying questions instead, showing real initiative and less reliance on luck.

Meanwhile, a younger student who struggled with measuring lines using a ruler was initially apprehensive but, after some hands-on practice, now confidently measures and compares lengths without prompting. Last session, he completed all his line measurement tasks smoothly on his own.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Pennant Hills Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Beecroft Public School.
